Technology FAIL
I went to lunch with my team today, and we stopped by the booth that was offering photos with Frosty the Snowman. The photographer, apparently smitten with me, said he needed to get photos of me with Frosty, then he'd take the team photos. So there I was, standing on a big red velvet arm chair, one pointy-booted foot up on the arm, hands on hips, looking as if I had just conquered the poor guy in the Frosty costume. It was very fun. The photographer told me to stay there, and arranged the rest of the team around me. Yay, photos! We waited around, and picked up our CD of the photos. I cart it back to my desk, put it in the computer, and ... discover that those are not our team photos. They are photos of some guy with a small child and Frosty. Woe! We are denied our photos! --- Tonight, we put up the Christmas tree. I sense hot cocoa in my future. --- Thanks to everyone who suggested phrases to embroider on gloves! I think I'm going to go with Cup ♥ Cake, Goth Cake, and maybe Love Cake. (Yes, I have pairs of gloves to do all of those. I just need to dig them out, and perhaps see how well one of the pairs does in a pot of pink RIT.) --- Another crafty/D.I.Y. project I'm contemplating is taking a piece of ruffled pink fabric (seriously, it's stretchy nylon covered in rows and rows of ruffles), cutting a large-ish heart out of it, and appliqueing that onto a skirt. I just don't know how well it would work. I'd fuse some interfacing onto it, but I don't know if that's possible with this sort of nylon knit. Time for experimenting, I guess. Help me, oh LJ hivemind!
I want to come up with two words, four letters each, that describe me. You see, I want to embroider them on a pair of fingerless gloves. Yes, like the very cute gloves that two different vendors were selling at the Mourning Market. Neither vendor had phrases that really appealed to me ("Punk Rock"? No. "Hard Luck"? Not even.), hence my deciding to try my hand at making my own set. Besides, I have a LOT of vintage-ish gloves I could use for this sort of thing. So yes. Two words, four letters each, that are appropriate for me. Please give me suggestions! ("Whimsy", alas, is obviously right out. I suppose I could embroider a word on the back of each hand, instead of a letter on each finger ...) --- Ooooh, in other news, the postman delivered my big Emilie Autumn deluxe bundle with the Asylum book (and t-shirt, recipe booklet, deluxe double CD, and totebag). A photo, and mock-whining Did you know that today is National Cupcake Day?! Well, apparently it IS. And I have NO CUPCAKES. This is deeply, deeply wrong, in my opinion.
EDITED TO ADD: Yay! The Stroppy One says we will stop by Cupcake Royale tonight! Cupcake crisis averted!
--- I wish the Ladies' Room had better light, because this photo doesn't do justice to the pinstriped velvet jacket or the little fascinator-hat I'm wearing.

Stuff, things, and creepy-cute things A shopping question: Have any of you seen white or ivory crocheted or lace tights for sale anywhere? Sock Dreams doesn't have what I'm looking for. I haven't had a chance to check out Target yet.
The weather has finally changed from OH MY GOD IT'S FREEZING to merely chilly and damp, and I am so, so thankful about it. My sinuses no longer hurt.
The weekend was very fun. Two different holiday parties in one night, and then going to the Mourning Market with geekmachine and chronivore, who were deligtful company as always. This edition of the Mourning Market was even better than the last one, and not just because people could hear each other this time. (A note to any alternative market organizers: It's a great idea to have bands perform at the event, but in reality, it means everyone has to shout to hold a conversation, which is not an ideal browsing and shopping experience.)
The next Mourning Market is slated for around Valentine's Day, and there's a slight chance of a Gothic Charm School reading happening at it. We'll see, and I'll let you all know as soon as I have more info.
Look at my ridiculously creepy-cute new handbag! Yes, from a vendor at Mourning Market; I added the pink bow and the cameo ring.

Shallow Fashion Details photo! Around my neck I'm wearing a glow-in-the-dark resin crow skull (on pink and black ribbons) that I purchased from mrsoles, because I AM that silly. I am also wearing the lovely charm bracelet that girlghoul made for me.

Hot air on my head is soothing
I am working at home again today, because the extremely cold dry weather we've been having has made my sinuses unhappy enough that they've gifted me with a sinus migraine. I would like to return their gift, but they didn't include a gift receipt. Since I'm at home, I put some more pink dye on my hair, and am sitting in front of the computers with a vintage bonnet hair dryer. The hot air on my head is very soothing. --- Seattle folks, remember! The second Mourning Market is happening this Sunday! I'm really looking forward to it; now I just need to finalize how I'm getting there. (The Stroppy One is on a very tight deadline, woe.) --- Look at the pretty charm bracelets (Clicky-link!) that girlghoul makes! I have one that has b&w striped beads and pink crystals, and I love it to bits. She also makes earrings and other goodies, and they're all very pretty. --- Okay, time to take more Advil Cold & Sinus, and await the return of the Stroppy One from the coffee-fetching errand. And take a look at this list of proposed documents that a writer has given me, hmmm... Current Music: The roar of the bonnet dryer |

Thank goodness for remote access, I tell you what.
I am working at home today, thanks to the wonders of a smart card and remote access privileges. I am VERY VERY GLAD I have these things, as I feel very fuzzy and unwell. (I'll be over it by tomorrow, it's just that my period is being particularly unpleasant this month.) But this means I can edit while being flopped on the couch with the cats, thank goodness. Since I AM working at home and feeling unwell, there will be no SFD photos. You are all wonderful people, but I am not presenting you with a photo of me in stripy pj pants, a "fangbanger" t-shirt, a Bat's Day hoodie, and bunny slippers. Sorry, you will just have to use your imagination. Last night I DID get writing done, and the next GCS column is off to the beta readers. Yay! Speaking of GCS, I have a question: It has been suggested to me that I start cross-posting my assorted fashion (and possibly book) reviews that I post here on LJ over to GCS, in their own section. I am intrigued by this idea, but the writing style for GCS is rather different than how I write over here in LJ-Land. But doing this would certainly give me a quick way to keep a tiny bit of new content on Gothic Charm School in between the advice columns. What do you folks think of the idea? Okay, more tea and editing. And ibuprofen. |

More stuff and things
Dearest Darling girlghoul, the package arrived yesterday. Thank you so much! It will go perfectly with the outfit I have planned for tomorrow. --- I, much like just about everyone else on LJ, am not receiving comment notifications. This is somewhat annoying. --- Hmmm. Today's second pot of tea is the Double Dark Chocolate Maté from the Republic of Tea. It smells divine and tastes ... I think I needed to let it steep a bit longer. I also think I need a cupcake, but alas! I do not have one. --- Last night I went to the Wayward Coffeehouse and saw nice people! And was given a pre-release copy of the new Toy-Box Trio CD, muah-ha-ha! And then went home and ... stared at the next GCS column that I'm writing and listened to my brain go ::whiiiiiiirrrrr::. Let me put it this way: I was so fuzzy and brain-dead that my bathtime reading selection was Eclipse. Yes, from the Twilight series. I guess I felt like giggling and rolling my eyes a lot. But tonight will be a Writing Night. It really will. It HAS to be. --- My outfit today includes a pink and white striped men's Oxford shirt. Yes, really. Worn with a black fluffy skirt with pink and white striped trim, and a black blazer with pink and white striped buttons and a pink and black cupcake patch on the arm. I'll try to post a photo later. coveting ::sob::Hey Sailor! is running a sale. The mini b&w striped tricorn with the pink details and the tiny pirate ship is on sale. (clicky-link!)::looks at pictures, whimpers some more::Dear Sandy Claws, I have been ... mostly good this year. And have learned from my mistakes when I wasn't good. I am very deserving of a tiny tricorn decorated with a pirate ship, I really really am. Love, Cupcake Goth Current Music: The Stroppy one playing Brutal Legend next to me |

Stuff, things, woogle.
Dear wererat, thank you for the snowflake cookie on my profile! It's very pretty. --- I had an SA as a house guest this weekend (YAY!), so I didn't look at LJ much. Let me know if I missed an important post of yours. --- Today is a day I fervently wished I had sick time available. Every few months, the PMS decides to ramp up. If I could have stayed home today, I would have. --- Seattle peeps! The second Mourning Market is this coming Sunday, at Club Motor again! (And this time there won't be a live band, so we won't have to shout to hold conversations, hurrah!) --- ... nope, I've got nothing else at the moment. Time for MOAR COFFEE, and editing. |

Fast post Thing One: I received confirmation that my contract ends the first week in January, thanks to budget. Which means I'll be job-hunting again. Anyone looking for a tech editor?
Thing Two: Work is busy. Here, have a photo. Look at the cute hat the lovely folks at Gloomth made for me!
